Now in its 13th year, Blackwater Integrated College has become established as a caring, forward looking school, meeting the needs of all young people in a welcoming and supportive environment. Based in Downpatrick, Blackwater Integrated College puts a high value on its integrated ethos and all pupils are welcome regardless of their religion, race or ability. Blackwater has specific provision for students with SEN at Key Stage 3 in our Learning Support Centre. The Learning Support Centre caters for students who have moderate learning difficulties and a statement of Special Educational Needs. Situated in the main school the LSC provides a caring and stimulating environment for learning with the students involved in every area of school life.
Services catered for students on the Autism spectrum or/and with challenging behaviour, moderate learning or physical disability. Other disabilities and conditions catered for includes cognition and learning difficulties or/and social, behavioural, emotional and wellbeing difficulties or/and speech, language and communication needs/sensory needs. Accepts students from Newry, Mourne and Down.
