Broomhill Bank School is a foundation special school. It is a designated co-educational day school for 5-19 year olds with communication and interaction needs including autism spectrum disorder (ASD) with a total roll of 92 pupils on site and the capacity to support a further 24 full time equivalent children on young people on an outreach basis. We aim to develop each individual to their full potential through: a broad and relevant curriculum, individually adjusted to their needs in order to provide them with the knowledge, skills and experience to cope with life during and after school. A full social and education vocational programme both within and outside the school day, which will enable them to care properly for themselves, to live with others and to exercise an increasing level of self reliance and independency within the community. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils. All our volunteers are subject to an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check. Another disability catered for by the school is a specific language disorder. The outreach part of the school is for 5-11 years old and the main school is for 11-19 years old. Other facilities offered by the school are independence training, local sports centre and annual trips to places such as Bewl Water, Carroty Wood and Kent Mountain Centre. Also caters for communication & interaction difficulties, pervasive developmental disorder, severe receptive or expressive language impairment or disorder.
