Connecting Carers

Main information

Type of service: Local groups

Connecting Young Carers (part of Connecting Carers) aims to identify, inform and support young carers across Highland. We work with young carers between the ages of 5 and 24, and offer a range of services. We organise respite breaks, activity breaks, and various other opportunities for young carers. We are currently working on the roll out a Young Carer Awareness Raising Schools Pack, which aims to better identify and support young carers. Alongside this we are encouraging the set up of young carer groups in schools, to offer ongoing local support. We have access to a number of grants for young carers, as well as access to a number of free local opportunities. If a young carer wishes to join our network, they will receive a Young Carer Information Tool Kit as well as ongoing regular newsletters and information on our upcoming events. Where possible, we can offer condition-specific information and resources as well as signposting to other appropriate services and local events.
