Type of service: Family support and information services

Family workers offer one-to-one help to families caring for a child aged 0-19 years of age, with any kind of disability. They can offer support over the telephone, through home visits or at events in the local area. We can help with: providing information on local services; supporting parents to explore the options available; negotiating with other agencies such as health, education or social services; helping parents to access welfare benefits or other sources of financial help; supporting at key transition points such as starting school, moving to adult services; and representing Contact a Family at local events and raise awareness of the needs of families.
