Disability Rights UK (formerly known as Disability Alliance) is a national registered charity with the principal aim of relieving the poverty and improving the living standards of disabled people. It's eventual aim is to break the link between poverty and disability. It provides information on social security benefits and tax credits to disabled people, their families, carers and professional advisers; undertake research into the needs of disabled people, with particular emphasis on income needs and seek to promote a wider understanding of the views and circumstances of all disabled people. It is also a campaigning organisation and provides a helpline. Disability Rights UK is pleased to announce that the following support and information will be available through our agreement with the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills: Online information – Updated information for disabled students, young people, families and professionals; Factsheets – We will provide factsheets for disabled students and advisors; Helpline/email advice – For people to contact us at: enquiries@disabilityrightsuk.org or via the freephone Helpline 0300 328 5050 which will be open for advice on education, training and employment. Opening hours are 11.30-1.30pm on Tuesdays and 1.30pm-3.30pm on Thursdays; and Policy and campaigns work – Disability Rights UK has a strong track record in evidenced-based campaigning with disabled people to break the link between poverty and disability.
