Type of service: Family support and information services

Disability Solutions West Midlands is a voluntary organisation, a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee. It is controlled and run by local disabled people with services available across the whole of the West Midlands. They are one of the largest user-led voluntary organisations in Staffordshire, which means that they are run by people with disabilities, on behalf of people with disabilities. Disability Solutions was formed in 1998 from the merger of three disability groups in North Staffordshire, Disability Advice Line (DIAL), Equal Voices and the Independent Living Centre. Our services are provided free of charge to the clients (the only exception to this is Individual Budgets Brokerages Services), and whilst their main client group is in North Staffordshire, they are always keen to look at opportunities further afield. Disability Solutions offers a free, impartial and confidential service. Clients either self-refer, families can refer or other professional and health care agencies can signpost. We provide advice on benefits, assistance with problems of mobility, travel and transport, education and all aspects of disability. This advice line is available on 01782 683 8000.
