Durham County Carers Support

Carers Trust

Main information

Type of service: Family support and information services

Provides information and support to carers. Each carer who is referred to the service is offered a home visit to find out whether the family are in receipt of the benefits that they are entitled to, to assess the impact that the caring role is having on the carer and if they require any extra practical support, to assess if the carer requires ongoing emotional support, to find out if the carer knows their rights as a carer to a Carers Assessment from Social Care and Health, to ensure the carer has all the information they require about the disability of the person they care for, the relevant services that are available in the Borough and how they can access them. After the initial home visit there are a number of services available depending on the needs of the individual carer..

The addresses of local offices in Consett, Chester le Street, Peterlee, and the contact number for surgery sessions in Barnard Castle and Newton Aycliffe can be found on the Durham County Carers Support website.
