The Dereck Roberts Centre is a specialised high staffed unit for pupils with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and moderate learning difficulties (MLD) within a mainstream setting. We have a maximum of 16 and 6 staff. Our pupils follow the National curriculum where appropriate and are included within mainstream where possible and dependent on their individual needs. Our aim is to develop and support pupils social and independent living skills. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils. They require a current Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check. The school uses the Structure, Positive (approaches and expectations), Empathy, Low arousal, Links (SPELL) framework.
