Elite aims to enable individuals with disabilities to access, obtain and maintain employment opportunities and ultimately paid employment through the use of appropriate support. Elite provides a range of support mechanisms for individuals, commencing with specialised assessments to identify the person's ability and to identify resources, including human support, to enable an individual to overcome the impairments imposed by their disability. A range of employment experiences are provided, which are supported to the level required by the individual and tailored to meet their needs. This includes placement/job finding and matching, interview preparation and support, CVs and application forms, travel training, social support, transition from benefits to paid employment and career development. Elite's work is conducted in open employment settings, through outreach services and in as natural a pattern as that provided to all staff by employers. Elite works closely with employers to recognise an individual's skills and potential and to understand ongoing needs to enable them to support their staff with disabilities in an appropriate manner. Elite offers systematic instruction and jobtrainer intervention. Part of Elite's work also includes the provision of disability awareness and disability equality training to employers and their staff to enable the creation of more opportunities for people with disabilities. Funding dictates referral, including Social Services, however Jobcentre staff can refer, as can teachers, lecturers, parents/carers and individuals.
