Elm Court School

London

Main information

Type of service: Day schools, Schools

Elm Court School is a secondary school for students with learning difficulties and associated social and communication needs. Many of our students have autism. We aim to provide a creative and practical learning environment with a focus upon achievement and the development of citizenship and life skills. The classes at Elm Court School are set up to meet the individual needs of our students. We recognise that all our students are unique. In Year 7, students are taught by one teacher for most of their subjects and visit specialist areas of the school for subjects such as Design Technology, physical education (PE) and science. From Year 8, students either continue to stay mostly with one teacher or will follow a timetable moving from lesson to lesson taught by different subject teachers. The individual needs of a student determine the class that they are placed in. All students are expected to reach challenging academic targets and to leave the school with a range of qualifications.
