Ephemera currently provides introductory training workshops on the subject of Autism awareness. They are aimed at both parents and family members as well as professional workers who have an interest or job role in the autism field. The workshops are a half day in length and run once a month at a local community centre in Stourbridge in the West Midlands. Ephemera can also offer in house or bespoke training for any companies or organisations who would find that a more convenient and appropriate way for their staff to receive training. The training workshop covers the basic concepts of what autism and Asperger syndrome is, explores what life is like for a person with an autism spectrum condition and provides space for workshop participants to consider and discuss their own thoughts, knowledge and feelings about autism and the people they live/work with. Both Neale Pilkington and Chris Morgan have considerable experience in delivery training. Neale is a fully qualified youth and community worker who has also worked in the substance misuse field delivering training in both areas. He is chair of Dudley Autistic Support Group and sits on a number of strategic groups looking at issues that affect people with autism. Chris is a qualified teacher and social worker who runs a community project for adults on the autistic spectrum. Chris also sits on a number of Autism Task Groups. They are both parents of young adults on the autistic spectrum.
