Equal Strands is a Specialist Autism & Asperger Consultancy working across Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire. We also work nationally via Skype or Facetime. We work with autistic people of all age groups and their families. Equal Strands takes a life span approach to support and appreciate that people require timely and specific support at particular times including transitioning to adulthood. Equal Strands provides a range of assessments and interventions relevant to living with Autism or Asperger Syndrome. Assessments include: Assessment of speech, language & communication needs for education and the work place. multidisciplinary diagnostic assessment using ADOS, ADI-R, Asperger Quotient and observation across everyday settings. Assessment and advice on 'Reasonable adjustments' (2010 Equality Act) at school, college or in the workplace. Assessment of 'school readiness' and advice on how to prepare for transitions to secondary school, college or university. Interventions include: Speech & Language Therapy; specialist speech, language & communication assessment, PECS, Intensive interaction, Social Stories™, Comic Strip Stories and TEACCH. Social skills training; job interview or appraisal skills, communicating at college or university and communicating safely on-line. Systemic practice: family support, planning for the future and communication between family members or partners. Equal Strands offers training and supervision to service providers who care for autistic adults. We are able to deliver group and individual supervision to enable staff teams provide safe and autism friendly care.
