Equine Assisted Psychotherapy

Main information

Type of service: Interventions and therapies

We provide Equine Assisted Psychotherapy using the Eagala model, working with children and young people for social, emotional, mental health, behavioural and learning needs. We provide therapeutic interventions on either an individual or group basis for a six to eight week period with a 1hr session per week. The sessions includes a qualified mental health professional and equine specialist and the horses. All our work is ground based, there is NO riding involved and no previous experience of horses is necessary. We also work with the families to look at the dynamics within the family and to support in the development of communication, improving relationships and building resilience. This model works well with children and young people and rapidly breaks down the barriers.
