Grafham Grange School is a successful special school for pupils with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties (SEBD) and associated needs, and offers residential provision for boys and young men aged 10-19 years. Grafham Grange School is part of Grafham Grange Special Educational Trust which also offers ‘Outstanding’ primary provision at Brantridge School, West Sussex. The Trust's core purpose is to build better futures for children and young people with additional educational needs. The school achieves this through a personalised curriculum which matches pupils' interests and aptitudes, while developing their learning and skills across a range of subjects. Pupils with autism are educated with their peers in small groups of no more than 8 with a teacher and teaching assistant in each group. 1:1 is also offered according to need and funding. The school has a Transition group for pupils aged 10-11 years which is taught core subjects and PSHE in a form base. This reduces the need for movement around the school and supports pupils to acquire social skills in a nurturing environment. All pupils have access to a range of therapeutic support services as required, these include; family support, child and adolescent psychiatrist, counselling psychologists, art and play therapists and speech and language therapy. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils subject to CRB and reference clearance. The school's provision is largely based around the SPELL framework.
