Main information

Type of service: Supported living schemes

At Happy Futures Support Specialists we have a high level of skills in Positive Behaviour Support as outlined in the PBS competence Framework (2015), Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is a framework for providing effective, long term, bespoke package of support for people who live with a learning disability/and or autism, including mental health conditions who may have or may develop behaviours of concern. We aim to treat everyone with dignity and respect and enabling them to have an improved quality of life. PBS is a values and human rights-based approach.

Here at Happy Futures, we ensure that all our individuals are at the centre of their care, planning and we empower, and co-produce live PBS support plans, to ensure we provide the right support at the right time so people can thrive to their full potential.
Positive Behaviour Support aims to understand what the behaviours are communicating, this includes those behaviour of concern (challenging).

Our qualified team use a set of evidence-based assessment and analytic tools to carry out: -

  • Functional assessments of behaviour.
  • Personalised intervention, based in behavioural principles.
  • Psychological interventions indicated before antipsychotic medication.
  • Safety intervention assessment plans which ensure restrictive interventions are used as the last resort.
  • Training for staff providing direct support in proactive interventions, in addition to high quality on-going supervision; and
  • The use of routine outcome measures and periodic monitoring.

This then ensures we co-produce PBS plans that describe what support an individual needs and what level, to achieve an excellent quality of life. Whilst living safely in their own home and within their own communities.
