Hinderton School

Whitby

Main information

Type of service: Day schools, Schools

Hinderton is a day special school for 32 children aged 3-11 who have severe social communication needs including an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Children mainly travel from West Cheshire and occasionally from further afield. There are 5 classes in the school and a speech and language therapy department. There are many links with local mainstream primary schools and there is an inclusive after school club in the summer term. A successful Ofsted in October 2002 resulted in an expansion of provision to include Key Stage 2 (KS2) pupils. Ofsted in 2007 judged the school successfully too.
