Main information

Type of service: Play and leisure, Social groups

KEEN (Kids Enjoy Exercise Now) is an Oxford based charity that provides sports and social activities for young people with special needs. It runs four regular sessions: KEEN Teens - a social club for ages 11-21 years; GrEAT - a social club for ages 21 years and above; Zig-Zag - a drama and craft session for under 18's years; and AllSorts - an all-inclusive multi-sports session for ages 4-25 years. Our participants (or "athletes") are supported by volunteer "coaches" who are largely students from Oxford's universities. KEEN aims to provide one-to-one support for all athletes, which allows them to cater to a very wide range of needs and abilities. In addition to the regular activities, KEEN also provides a programme of one-off special events including swimming trips, ice skating and day trips. All KEEN's activities are free (aside from GrEAT, which charges a small subscription fee). KEEN's aim is to provide a safe, friendly and supportive environment that allows our athletes to develop their confidence and skills. It caters for a large range of abilities including mild learning disabilities, quadriplegia, Down syndrome and autism..
