Knowsley Information, Advice and Support Service

Knowsley Council

Main information

Type of service: Parent partnerships, Parent partnerships

Formerly known as "Knowsley Parent Partnership Service" the service provides information and support to parents of children with special educational needs (SEN) and disabilities. If you have a child aged from birth to 19 years with SEN and they need extra help to learn, then the IAS Service can give you impartial and confidential support. It offers information on parents' rights, roles and responsibilities within the SEN process. The IAS Service can explain how support for SEN is organised and help you through the various systems from exclusions and school appeals, through to statutory assessment of your child's needs. The IAS Service can give you information about the different provision and options available to you so that you make an informed decision as to what you want for your child's education. The IAS Service does not make decisions for parents - it is there to help you to make your own decisions. The IAS Service has links with parents' groups and other voluntary organisations as well as other services so it can direct you towards other sources of help and support.
