At KTS Academy, our aim is to create a supportive and caring environment for the children and young people who need a more specialised provision. Children come from across the Redcar and Cleveland Borough, as well as surrounding boroughs. Pupils are admitted throughout the year on an individual basis, via referrals from the Local Authority. With 170 pupils and over 100 teaching and support staff, we have high levels of staffing to ensure that all pupils receive excellent care, guidance and support. A multi-disciplinary team, which includes specially trained staff in nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy, work closely alongside our school staff to ensure that pupils make the progress they are able to make. Our facilities include Early Years Foundation Stage provision, a thriving 14-19 unit and specialist provision for pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties, as well as those with an autistic spectrum condition. In addition, we are proud of our specialist resources, which include a hydrotherapy pool, soft play area, ICT suite, sensory integration rooms and sensory light rooms. KTS Academy is a Unicef Rights Respecting School and achieved the Gold Rights Respecting Schools Award in 2019.
