Autism Support UK - Voluntary community group are bringing Lego® based learning to Bolton. A social communication group Mondays 5pm-6.30pm at Essa Academy in Bolton at £7 per session in 8 week blocks. Developing social competence in young people. Lego®-based learning is a social development group for young people with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) or any social communication difficulties. Young people work together to build Lego® models and through this fun activity they have the opportunity to develop social skills such as turn taking, problem solving and social communication. A fantastic way to socially interact. The group is structured and all children play a part - by having roles each week they will be supported to expand in social communication, problem solving, understanding and friendship skills. Our Lego®-based group will provide natural opportunities for developing social competence which are facilitated by experienced staff who have both experience in Autism and Lego®-based therapy practitioners. The key to this approach is how engaging and enjoyable it is for the learners. Building Lego® Together is fun, and learners develop social skills while at our after school club.
