A large 4 bedded unit in a new attractive house close to the centre of Croydon in the quiet suburb of Sanderstead. It is close to local shopping centres, leisure facilities and local transport routes to the town centre. The unit is staffed and equipped to provide medium and long term care for children and young people who have moderate to severe learning difficulties (SLD) and autism spectrum disorders (ASDs). The accommodation comprises four large bedrooms of which two are on the ground floor, suitable for those with some additional physical needs and which lead out into a secure rear garden. The two upstairs bedrooms are for those with greater mobility. All the bedrooms allow adequate space for private activities and the storage of personal possessions and favourite toys/equipment. Downstairs there is a large kitchen with an open dining area, a bathroom and separate toilet facilities, a very large family room, a quiet room for music and receiving visitors and a utility room. All downstairs rooms have wider doors are therefore accessible for those with disabilities. Both the lounge and the kitchen lead out onto a very large patio and enclosed garden offering space for games and other leisure activities. Whilst the home will take emergency referrals, normally they are planned. After staff have made an initial visit to the child/young person, they are invited to visit for tea and or an overnight stay. If this, and detailed work proves the home suitable an admission is offered.
