Main information

Type of service: Day schools, Nursery and pre-schools, Schools

Lisanally Special School caters for pupils between 3 and 19 years. There is one autism specific class in the infant department and pupils are integrated with pupils who have different and varying special educational needs in all other classes. It shares the campus with part of the Southern Regional College (S.R.C.) which is accessed for a variety of programmes by our 16-19 year old pupils. The school has a gymnasium, a fitness suite, sensory room, soft play and ball pool room and a hydrotherapy pool. We draw on approaches such as Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication handicapped Children (TEACCH), Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), Music Therapy, Sensory Integration, Intensive Interaction, Icon to Ican etc. Through the provision of a wide range of daily activities we aim to provide a broad and balanced curriculum and develop children's independence and social and life skills within a safe, secure and structured environment.
