Lower Hanham Road is run by a well-established staff team, experienced in caring for people with learning disabilities as well as a range of other complex needs, including mental health needs, autism, eldercare and non-verbal communications. The team of seven staff provide 24 hour care, including waking nights. Residents enjoy good links with the local community. Many people attend non-segregated groups, such as golden oldies and sing-alongs at Hanham Folk Centre. Other activities include swimming, discos, day trips, bingo, walking and gardening. One resident works on a farm four days a week where he looks after chickens, pigs and goats. Residents relax with a variety of interests, including knitting, board games and karaoke. Close links with family are encouraged and relatives regularly visit the home in addition to residents going out to visit their families. The home is situated in a residential area between Hanham and Kingswood. Facilities include: Four ground floor bedrooms, two with ensuite facilities; one additional bedroom upstairs; one ground floor bathroom and 2 toilets; one additional bathroom upstairs; open plan lounge; front garden with raised beds.
