Mapledown School is Barnet Local Education Authority (LEA)'s secondary school for pupils with severe learning difficulties (SLD) and comprises 3 Learning Zones catering for pupils with SLD, autism spectrum condition (ASC) (4 ASC specific classes of 7 pupils each) and profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD). Most of our pupils transition into Mapledown from Oakleigh School and all admissions come via the Complex Needs Panel at Barnet LEA. Various therapies can be available depending on requirements laid out in the Educational Statement and depending on available resources. We have spaces in Learning Zone 2 (ASD). We have an after school provision term time and some holidays. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils. SLD is a fundamental criterion, there may be additional disabilities catered for by the school.
