Middletown Centre for Autism is a joint Northern Ireland and Ireland initiative with funding provided by the Department of Education Northern Ireland and the Department of Education and Science (DES), Ireland. The purpose of the Centre is to support the promotion of excellence in the development and co-ordination of education services to children and young people with autism. Provision will be made for comprehensive educational assessment, learning support, accredited training, and accessible research support and information. The Centre will not be a first level service provider, but rather will respond to referrals from local providers, offering the following services: training, advice and guidance for families and professionals; research and information service; educational assessment; and learning support service.
