Network 81 is a national network of parents working towards properly resourced inclusive education for children with special needs. The Network's range of services includes: a national Helpline open from 10am-2pm weekdays offering advice on all matters relating to special educational needs; befrienders - who can support parents at meetings and through the assessment procedures and who are trained in the understanding of the Code of Practice and Education Law relating to it; a termly newsletter keeping members up to date with changing legislation and news relating to special education; publications including a Parents guide - a user-friendly guide designed to help parents and those working with parents; a range of leaflets; befriender training courses - four weekends per year, designed for parents, voluntary organisations and professionals and are free; conferences - a national conference each spring and assistance for groups planning local conferences and workshops; independent parental supporter training - training sessions as part of IPS training offered by parent partnership services and local education authorities; advice on administration relating to the 1996 Education Act and Code of Practice 2001 to be carried out in all schools; advice on communication with schools and education authorities.
