Type of service: Respite and short breaks

Provides Family Based Short Breaks for children with disabilities in the Newport area. Planned short-term care for a disabled child within the home of an approved carer. Carers are recruited from within the community. Breaks can be anything from a few hours a week to an overnight or weekend stay on a regular basis. Our carers undergo an assessment process including enhanced police checks and medicals. Carers must be over 18 years of age. The focus of the service is on providing each child with access to new experiences, helping them to build friendships and increase independence.
