Elaine Nicholson MBE is a professionally qualified/trained counsellor and a mother of persons with Asperger syndrome. She has worked for over 6 years as a counsellor of people whose lives have become adversely affected by the experience of Asperger syndrome, be they someone who is classed as neurotypical, or a child/adolescent/adult who has the condition themselves. She offers a face to face consultation at her consulting rooms in the middle of the Northamptonshire countryside. She also offers monthly outreach services in North Wales based at Llandudno Junction. Home visits might be possible depending upon extenuating factors, or counselling support may be offered via telephone/texting/Skype or email consultancy service. If people are prepared to travel she is able to see clients from all over the United Kingdom (UK). I has also done British Sign Language Level One (2014) and has a City and Guilds Award in Education & Training Level 3 (formerly PTTLS) to teach autism in the 16+ age group. She uses the following counselling approaches: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Eclectic and Integrative. Her service is tailored to the individual's needs. Elaine is also an agony aunt for ITV's Project Aspie, a service for young adults who have Asperger syndrome. She is a member of an expertise-rich think tank of individuals working in the field of Autism called 'Autistic Intelligence' of which Professor Tony Attwood is also a member. Winner also of De Montfort University Alumni of the Year - Highly Commended for Disability Awareness 2013 & also winner of Pride in Peterborough Healthcare Professional of the Year 2012. I am now Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS)-2 trained and so can offer ADOS diagnoses in addition to Autism Diagnostic Interview (ADI). I offer an outreach counselling surgery in Llandudno Junction, North Wales. This runs one day every 5 weeks and is for counselling clients only. I have been running this surgery since 2014.
