The Paediatric Occupational Therapy Service for children with autism spectrum disorders is based at the Educational Services Centre. We offer advice to parents and professionals to help the development of a child's everyday life skills. Through consultation and advice we aim to: improve the child's functional skills and quality of life; offer input in the child's familiar environment, for example, home and school, as required; and advise on environmental modification to support interactions and function.
The service is available to preschool children living in the City of Edinburgh, and children attending mainstream primary or secondary school within the City of Edinburgh who have a diagnosis of ASD and whose ability to function in everyday life activities is significantly compromised; everyday life activities include: self-care, school, play, social interaction.
