Ola Lawal is a nationally accredited Cycle Instructor insured and registered with the Cyclist Touring Club. He specialises in teaching those with cognitive special needs or learning difficulties. Teaching this life skill to these young people can have a significant positive impact on their social, physical, emotional and educational development. The benefits from regular cycling are clear: improved cardiovascular health, fitness and stamina; increased confidence, self esteem/concentration; independent local mobility, etc. The organisation runs a variety of programmes and works in range of settings, such as: pupil referral units, local councils, unemployment projects and training centres, schools, Youth Justice/crime prevention schemes, after school & holiday play schemes. Example of programmes: Cycle Training Camps for young people with special needs; learn how to ride; safe use of roads; build a bike: mechanic taster courses; cycle sports outings & classroom based road safety sessions. Ola has 20 years experience of working with young people, gained in a variety of settings. Ola has recently been invited by Cycling England to assist them establish the SEN module for the National Cycling Training Standards. The organisation is very keen to work with local & national organisations working in the field of cognitive special needs in order to develop and expand this life skill training, so that a much wider audience of young people can participate.
