Main information

Type of service: Further & Higher Education

Regent College is a small day college providing a safe and supportive environment for people who have severe and complex learning difficulties with associated challenging behaviour. It is situated near the heart of Stoke-on-Trent, within easy reach of the city's amenities and convenient for local public transport. The college has 30 places for learners aged from 16 to 25 years. Each learner follows an induction programme that includes a thorough initial assessment. Learners work with their tutors, learning support assistants and other specialist staff to produce a unique individual learning plan for the development of practical skills that target agreed personal milestones. Learners work on their individual needs, gain confidence and develop essential social skills by taking part in real-life activities such as running "mini-enterprises". The college's aim, for all learners, is to help them acquire the life-skills and level of independence they will need when they leave the college.
