The name of the provision for children with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is the ASD Resourced Provision. This is a comprehensive school for children aged 11-16 years. It includes pupils with a spectrum of special educational needs (SEN) difficulties. A high achieving school with 81% General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) graded A*-C. The most recent OFSTED in October 2012 rated as good: "Students hosted in the specialist resourced provision benefit from being well prepared for their future learning and skilful staff ensure that they are helped to develop their independence when working with others". (Achievement of pupils) The school is now an Academy. Opened in September 2002, the Resource caters for a maximum 12 students on the autism spectrum, all of at least average ability. Students are educated in groups with other students with ASD, in mixed groups or in mainstream classes. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the students if they have a suitable background, experience or interest. Another facility offered by the school is a quiet room as part of the mainstream school. Another facility offered by the school is relaxation.
