SCAMP (Student Community and Mobility Playgroup)is a playgroup for children aged 8-15 with special needs. SCAMP ask parents to stay for the duration of the session. SCAMP is run by student volunteers from 'Contact' at the University of Leicester. Through a variety of games SCAMP help children to improve their basic motor skills, social skills and fitness levels. SCAMP encourage teamwork, working in pairs and playing with other children to build confidence and to help coordination. All volunteers undergo a careful screening process before becoming involved in any activities. SCAMP runs every Sunday during University term-time from 2.15pm-3.45pm. SCAMP takes place in the Sports Hall in the Charles Wilson Building on the main University campus on University Road, Leicester.
