Type of service: Residential services

Serenity is 'a place to call home' for children and young people aged 8-17 who are living with autism, emotional difficulties and challenging behaviours. Based on principles of quality, care and development, Serenity aspires to develop a bespoke service for each child, which recognises and adapts to their unique needs, buidling a world around them which enables them to achieve positive outcomes. Each child receives a package of care which offers: an in depth analysis of their needs and wants; a personalised care programme; a keyworker; promotion of independence; luxurious accommodation and access to innovative expertise. The accommodation has low stimulus decor and offers each young person a private room with en suite facilities. They are encouraged to personalise their space and make it their own. They have full use of the 3 lounges for relaxation, education or socialisation are invited to make full use of the facilities which include computers, books, television and a variety of games and activities. Young people are supported to prepare meals and snacks. An art therapy service is delivered in an art annexe in the grounds. Young people are enabled to make full use of local community facilities with the support of their keyworker. Referrals are accepted by the Registered Manager Michael Bailey and can be made either from professionals or parents and carers of the young person. A referral form is available on their website www.serenity-homes.co.uk and can be completed and sent directly to Serenity for immediate assessment to commence. The service prefers to undertake a full assessment of the child/young person prior to admission so that the individual package of support can commence on admission.
