SoLO Life Opportunities

Chelmsley Wood

Main information

Type of service: Play and leisure, Respite and short breaks

SoLO Life Opportunities enables children, young people and adults with learning disabilities to enjoy social and leisure activities that the rest of us take for granted. SoLO is a registered charity. It operate throughout Solihull from offices based in Chelmsley Wood. SoLO provides specialist leisure projects for those with more specific needs and organises activities that allow people with moderate learning disabilities (MLD) to have access to mainstream pursuits. The Projects are held at a variety of venues across North and South Solihull and the times vary to suit the needs and availability. Some projects offer transport in mini-buses, some provide transport in staff and volunteers cars. In providing social, leisure and fun activities for individuals with learning disabilities, SoLO provides the parents and carers of those individuals with much needed respite - a break from the full-time job of caring for disabled people. Groups are run by paid staff and supported by volunteers. Given the nature of SoLO's work with vulnerable individuals, every member of staff and all volunteers are subjected to Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks to ensure their suitability for the work..
