Interface is a discreet provision for learners who have an autism spectrum condition (ASC) or autistic triats. It is for learners aged 16-19 years (or up to 24 years if they have a learning disability assessment). Our aim is to help learners feel better equipped for the diverse challenges of adult life. This is through meaningful and fun learning activities and a highly respectful approach. Interface provides convenient access to main college courses and facilities whilst providing a sense of safety away from busier areas. It offers a really relaxed and supportive environment along with a choice of three full time pathways of learning delivered by specialist staff in small classes; Social and emotional skills pathway (from entry level 2 up to level 1); Independent living skills pathway (from entry level 1 up to level 2); and Employability skills pathway (from entry level 3 up to level 2). Alternatively, students who are ready can enrol on a mainstream course in the college and use Interface as a base to relax or build friendships. The College uses the Structure, Positive (approaches and expectations), Empathy, Low arousal, Links (SPELL) framework.
