Main information

Type of service: Advocacy (general)

Southend Mencap's advocacy service provides a full range of support to people with learning disabilities: advocates may work on a 1:1 basis alongside the client to resolve 'one-off' difficulties; advocates will work for as long as the support is needed if the issues are more complex or long-term; Self-Advocacy groups have been established at the local Adult Training Centres and residential homes in the area.
