Specialist Support (Autism) (formerly known as The Autism Spectrum Condition Outreach Support Service (ASCOSS) Team) provides specialist support, advice and training to enhance learning, achievement and social inclusion of children and young people with a diagnosis of autism in mainstream schools. Support can take a variety of forms according to individual need. This may include: advice on curriculum content, design, access and differentiation; advice on developing the optimum learning; environment for pupils; a tailored approach to supporting transition and transfer; support with provision mapping, Inclusion Passports and target setting; modelling and coaching of appropriate support strategies; and presentations/training on a range of aspects of autism for stakeholders including leadership teams, teachers, support staff, parents and governors to promote autism awareness, including workshops for parents.
