Spectrum Youth Theatre

London

Main information

Type of service: Play and leisure

A creative club for 11-17 year olds with high functioning autism. Spectrum Youth Theatre (SYT) is a puppet youth theatre for young people with Asperger syndrome or high functioning autism. It began in May 2014, as a pilot project with support from Turtle Key Arts, and has gone from strength to strength. In 2015 the youth theatre worked with professional theatre company, Smoking Apples, to create The Creature, which was performed at Little Angel Theatre in March. We are now looking for participants to embark on a new theatre project. This is a club for artists, model builders, designers, problem solvers, puppeteers, performers and people with big imaginations or a quirky take on life. Dates/Times/Place: Spectrum Youth Theatre meets on Saturday afternoons: 2.00pm-3.45 pm. Location: Little Angel Studios, Sebbon Street Community Centre, Sebbon Street, London, N1 2EH. Cost: £150 per child per term. These fees include all training, materials, refreshments, technical and pastoral support, and theatre trips. Some people use their “Short Breaks” grant to pay for this club.
