Springfield House is a residential special school situated in a rural position near Knowle, Solihull. It is a City of Birmingham school and most of the children come from Birmingham. They have a few children from adjacent authorities. The school has had very successful Ofsted inspections in March 2000 and May 2006 and is currently awaiting the final report from November 2008. They have 8 classes each with a teacher and a nursery nurse. Some of the children require a high level of support at all times. They are also preparing the children for adult life so that they can learn to live well with themselves and others. The school provides a range of activities in the evenings for children, to help them integrate into society and to broaden their experience. The school also take the children on educational visits during the day time and in the evenings. Pupils with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are educated in mixed groups with children who have a range of special needs. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils. Residential provision is offered by the school.
