Main information

Type of service: Assessment, Day schools, Schools

The name of the unit for children with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is the Additional Learning Support Department. Students with an ASD follow mainstream "A" level courses (or General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) level if required). Students can access in-class support or one-to-one support with their abilities. In addition we offer a quiet, calm area for private study, discussion of issues, chill out time as required on a drop-in basis. Students with ASD may have a lesson to access these facilities at any time. The College offers ASD counselling on an appointment basis and all staff have received In Service Training (INSET) training. University student mentors only are involved in volunteering with the pupils. The school is Catholic but is open to all faiths.
