Main information

Type of service: Residential services

Located in Plymouth, St Winnow provides person-centred support in a community setting for 5 males and females over the age of 18 years who are living with autism. Our aim is to be a home for residents, not just a service. We develop self-esteem and the skills our residents need to live as independently as possible, working towards a level of independence which fits with their confidence and aspirations. Our specialist services: The services we provide at St Winnow include: Three bedrooms and two communal flats; Fully enclosed garden which offers a safe and tranquil environment; Person-centred support programmes; Access to education and paid employment opportunities; Multidisciplinary staff team; Close to local amenities and public transport links including a bus and train station; and Progression through a care pathway that fulfils each individual's maximum potential to live more independently. St Winnow promotes Priory Adult Care's communication strategy, "Your Voice", which encourages individuals, based on their preferred method of communication, to voice their views about the support they receive. Our approach to support: Everyone we support is encouraged through their person-centred plans to achieve their goals and aspirations. For some people this means attending college to access various courses, including cooking, art and daily living skills. For others it means work placements and other day opportunities in line with their goals. We encourage the people we support to develop feelings of security and to form relationships with others in the immediate and the extended community. We encourage involvement of families in the support of their family member and seek to involve them in discussions concerning the welfare of the person are paramount. It is our aim to assist each individual in the development of skills that will enable their full participation in the life of the immediate and wider community and live the life they want to..
