St Stephens Community Academy's Area Resource Base (ARB) is a unit for 10 pupils attached to the mainstream primary school. It caters for ages 4-11 years. All pupils have a statement of special educational needs (SEN). There is integration into mainstream if appropriate. Pupils have profound and complex needs, severe disability and include pupils with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), cerebral palsey, chromosome disorders and sensory impairments. Some autistic and Asperger syndrome pupils are full-time in mainstream with support. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils.
