The Specialist Learning Centre for complex needs at Avenue School caters for up to 24 children from reception to year 6. We have children with a wide range of special needs and syndromes. There are 2 teachers and 4 teaching assistants. The curriculum is Key Stage 1 (KS1) based with an emphasis on social skills. We incorporate many strategies in our teaching so that we present information accessible to various learning style combinations. The staff: pupil ratio varies between 1:3 and 1: 5. There is access to mainstream classes as appropriate.
