The Croft Community

Camphill Village Trust

Main information

Type of service: Residential services

The Croft community, based in Malton, North Yorkshire, supports adults with learning disabilities in their home life, work, training and social and cultural activities, assisting their integration into town life. For the 70 people of The Croft, half of whom have learning disabilities, home life revolves around our six community houses in different areas of Malton, Norton and Old Malton. The Kingfisher Café, Gift and Bookshop provide work opportunities in all aspects of running a busy, modern, town-centre enterprise widely used by local people and visitors. The Croft gardens include a large market garden growing fruit, vegetables and flowers. There are craft workshops creating decorative items which are sold from the shop and in other Camphill shops. There is also work in different offices and domestic work and meal preparation in the houses.
