The Laurels is a modern and well equipped home located in the leafy suburbs of Lowestoft on the Suffolk coast which provides the highest of standards of care for those of both sexes with varying degrees of behavioural and learning difficulties who want to live as independently as possible. The service focusses on supporting those who have a range of learning disabilities with wide experience of supporting those within the autism spectrum range, physical and sensory needs, or personality disorder. Each person is supported as an individual and independence is encouraged, empowering people to live happy and fulfilling lives within their local community. The Laurels values families being fully involved with their loved one's care and support and regular meetings are held to discuss progress. The Laurels provides direct 1 to 1 and 2 to 1 support to residents and works closely with outside organisations such as OT'S, Consultant Psychologist, Psychiatrist, District Nurses, Social Workers etc. The Laurels is a relaxed and modern, friendly home with a welcoming atmosphere. Social activities in the local community are promoted and as much independence that is possible for each individual. Birthdays, Christmas and all celebrations are enjoyed with family and friends. There is an open referral system. Volunteers may be accepted to work with service users.
