The Village School, in Kingsbury, was formed in September 2010 when Hay Lane and Grove Park schools merged. The Village School is a school for severe learning disabilities (SLD), ASD and profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) pupils aged 4-19 years. There are 7 designated ASD classes made up of two primary, four secondary and one 16+ years. Pupils have the opportunity to integrate during breaks. We have 16+ provision. There is a co-ordinator who is off timetable 3 days a week with a specialism in autism. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils. The school uses the Structure, Positive (approaches and expectations), Empathy, Low arousal, Links (SPELL) framework. The school also offers an after school club, parent support groups and training. Allyson Moss has worked in the field of ASD for 17 years. She is trained and offers training in makaton, Team Teach, Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication handicapped CHildren (TEACCH), picture exchange communication system (PECS), Sherborne, and SPELL. The school also offers network training and behaviour management training. Training can be in-house. Janet Allport offers training in moving and handling.
