The Wave Project is a not-for-profit CIC that runs surfing courses for young people who are facing exceptional challenges in their lives. Based in Cornwall and North Devon, it has recently received funding from the Big Lottery Fund to provide 300 free surfing courses for young people aged 8-21 who are facing disadvantage. This includes young people with ASD, Asperger Syndrome, mental health difficulties, emotional problems or learning disabilities - as well as those who are under a lot of stress due to extraordinary circumstances. The Wave Project's unique 1:1 surfing courses are delivered with support from a team of dedicated volunteers who provide motivation, support and encouragement. They are evidence-based and work with mental health professionals and psychologists to refer clients and to independently evaluate their projects to ensure that they are providing lasting and meaningful benefits to their clients. Please note, the project only accepts professional referrals.
