Torfaen's Children and Young Person's ASD Support Service

Torfaen County Borough Council

Main information

Type of service: Family support and information services

The ASD Support Service works in a person centred way with the young person and their family, school and allied professionals. It aims to support children and families by listening, providing relevant information, and signposting to other professionals who may be able to offer help. Liaising with parents, health and education staff can help to maximise learning and social interaction within schools and local communities. The service aims to support children and families with a diagnosed ASD in two distinct ways: Post diagnostic support and Transition support. Diagnosing health professionals can refer families, with their consent, to this service. The ASD support post can offer a tailored package of support based on individual needs, ability and interest.
