Tuesday Evening Social Club (TESC)

Main information

Type of service: Social groups

Every other Tuesday adults with Asperger syndrome, autism or mild learning disabilities come along and have a good time. The group aims to allow like-minded people to meet up and make social contact and do fun activities in a safe and relaxed environment. Another aim is for members to make friends and arrange social activities outside the group. Parents and carers are welcome to come along too. There are loads of activities including: ball games such as basketball, board games, table tennis, artwork/crafts, cookery, computers are available for the internet or games, just chatting and having a drink. Often a day or evening outing is arranged in the minibus; club members are asked to think of where they'd like to go. Outings that have taken place included shopping (places like the Trafford Centre); Southport, Blackpool Illuminations; a day doing outdoor activities at Waddecar; a day out to Manchester for a conference and many other things! A nominal charge of 50p per meeting is required from each member to cover the cost of refreshments, postage and equipment such as art materials, plus anything else that is required to keep Tuesday Evening Social Club (TESC) running. Over 20 people have attended a recent meeting. The group sees people coming from all over Lancashire and beyond. Lifts can be arranged to and from meeting, or you can arrange your own lift.
